September Updates from Sailing Committee
Published 2:28pm on 17 Sep 2026
Our Wednesday and Thursday evening sailing sessions have been a fantastic success this summer. A huge thank you to all our adult and junior sailors, parents, instructors, safety boat crews, race officers and everyone who has helped both on the water and ashore. It has been a brilliant team effort!
Although evening sailing has now finished for the season and supervised Saturday sailing will also be ending soon, Elton is far from closed. There is still plenty happening on the water throughout autumn and winter.
We sail every Sunday throughout the year and would love to see more adult and junior members getting involved. A safety boat is on the water from midday, so come down and join the racing, enjoy a relaxed sail or simply see what goes on.
There are always experienced sailors around to offer help and advice, as well as opportunities to crew, assist in the safety boats or watch the action with the experts from the lounge. The more sailors we have on the water, the better the sailing and the better the racing; so come along and get involved!
Forthcoming events
Tuesday 22 September North West Senior Travellers
We are hosting the final round of this competitive series for sailors aged over 50. Several of our own club sailors will be joining the visiting fleet, so come along and support them.
Saturday 26 September Elton ILCA (Laser) Open
We look forward to welcoming ILCA sailors from across the North alongside our own Elton sailors. Racing begins at 11am. Please note that the water will be closed to other users that day.
Sunday 4 October Club Championship
Our own one-day championship, featuring three races from midday. We would love to see a strong Elton fleet on the water!
Training update
Congratulations to five of our regular sailors who successfully completed their week-long Dinghy Instructor course in August. This is a fantastic achievement and will help to increase our training capacity at the club.
We also welcomed new sailors onto our Level 1 and Level 2 courses on 5th and 6th September, and we hope to see them continuing to build their confidence by joining our regular club sailing.
This months First Aid and RYA Safety Boat courses are both fully booked, helping us to maintain and further strengthen safety at the club.
