Income has increased along with expenditure from the previous year. Member’s efforts have more than doubled on the previous year.
There is a slight excess in income over expenditure; no depreciation is featured in the figures due to a revaluation of the club assets, this will be reflected in next years figures. A healthy increase in sailing activity was noted on the previous year.
A continued close monitoring of expenditure will remain.
Paul Savage proposed and Adam Savage seconded that the accounts are accepted, motion passed with no absentions.
6. Commodore Overview – David Smith
David reflected that the Council and members have built on the excellent efforts of Paul Salmon over the previous two years.
Over 20 new members have joined the club in the last year and there is a healthy presence of existing members on a regular basis. Thank you to Brian Taylor and Lisa Mullineux for supporting new members and to all club members who make those new to sailing very welcome and part of the club.
Training, Social and Sailing activity over the last year has been well organized and facilitated, thank you expressed to Adam Savage for an excellent programme.
David expressed his thanks to all the volunteers in the club who had given time and effort to the club.
Thank you also given to Charlotte Bradley who has kept the sailors in hearty food from the galley.
Noted thanks also give to:
Yvonne Savage and Debra Holmes for organizing some of the club’s yearly successful events.
Bob Bradley and his elves, too long a list of accomplishments which keep the club in good working order
Ray Cumley for effortless running the berthing
Peter Glynn, Tony Crompton and Paul Savage for keep us on the water by the upkeep of our safety boats
The website has been transformed this year keeping us and you informed of all things club related, thanks to the webteam of David Smith, Andy Bell and Lisa Mullineux
Thanks to our club manager Dave Moore for always being around to help anyone, much appreciated
Through the liaison with the RYA under Adam’s lead we as a club have enhanced our profile with initiatives such as Sail for Gold, OnBoard and Zone squad – the zone squad have now twice used the club for their events which is a welcomed income generator for the club.
We are delighted to have John Friend as a fellow member who has been recognized this year by HRH Princess Anne with a Community Award for services to the RYA.
We note with sadness the passing of long standing members and friends this year Graham Steel, Dorothy Derry and Neal Massey, our thoughts are with families at this time.
As the Olympic year approaches it is hoped many more events and enthusiasm for sailing will enhance the club further.
